bare
Confession is hard. Yet it releases you, it awakens you, it refreshes you. To experience that, you have to find people who love you, who genuinely want the best for you, who would show compassion instead of disdain for the terrible choices you've made. There is much to lose when you bare your heart. Perhaps you've once experienced the pain of a backfired confession, the shards of shattered trust strewn across your face as your confidante walks away, shaking his or her head at this newfound knowledge of who you are.
That is one of my biggest fears. To be rejected if i reach out. Not because there's nobody there for you, but sometimes we are convinced that we can never change. We posture and postition and pontificate, yet the person that others see is made up on the run, while the real us frantically operates the levers from behind a mask. And we leave almost every interaction feeling deeply unknown and disatisfied. The past month has been a time of confession; though at times my faith hangs by a gossamer thread, yet it holds on steadfast as long as i do not let go.
Bon courage.
