natural
Sometimes relationships and friendships die natural deaths, the casual eroding over the months that ends up with a revelation that you haven't spoken to each other in many weeks, the one you used to speak to on a daily basis. I think the sudden severing hurts worse of course, but i've mourned both.
We always romanticize these attachments, especially ones that are no longer available to us. The unrequited emotions are so tough to stomach, and it's amazing how they can still undo us, even when there are so many big things going on.
