the silver lining
Because i seldom wear my heart on my sleeve, i give many the impression that my life seems hassle-free and i am Mary Poppins with schoolgirl hair. While there are times i admit i do suppress emotion, i do not always purposefully wear a coat of armour as some might tend to think so. I simply prefer to dish out my vulnerablity in bits and pieces, in conversations with a trusted few, in midnight walks home with Natalie Merchant and here - this slice of cyberspace. This is who i am, the kind of girl who always has her wavy hair and smile neatly in place even when she is sinking in the abyss of despair, a place where words fail and prayers turn to choking sobs.
The truth is, i'm not a strong person, my glass is not constantly half-full. I just believe that we are the ones who create the framework for how we view every thing that happens to us. It's all a viewpoint. We can choose to see a radiant world even during the tougher times, or allow our personal lenses to offer an image of a darker Earth that feels hostile and inhospitable.
It only makes sense that if we choose to look at the bright side of things, find the silver lining in even the most difficult of experiences, then that is exactly what we'll tend to experience: the silver lining that God provides.
