happy valentine's day
I know i can be hopelessly romantic if i want to, but i do not buy into the whole notion of Valentine's Day. But neither am i contemptuous of those who do. Though this very day can be filled with dread for the perpetually single, the relentlessly bitter, as well as the sheer volume of pinks, reds, flowers, chocolates and little naked cupids who hunt down the unsuspecting and oblivious with their poison arrows.
So how does one survive on such a day?
If you're a female, then hang out with your closest gal pals; take a walk down Orchard Road and watch the last minute shoppers and the men waiting at MRT stations with little bouquets, looking slightly sheepish. After people-watching and having some good hearty laughs, rent some chick flicks (How To Lose A Guy In 10 days) and make fluffy pancakes. The most important thing to remember is not to sweat it. It's just another day, honestly. So what if everyone around you are wearing their hearts (and flowers) on their sleeves? This isn't a contest or a status ritual, although many people see it that way. So don't be depressed or desperate; before you know it, it will be February 15, and the V-Day will be over soon.
