thank you
God knows that in the past 2 weeks i've apologized to you more than i've apologized to someone else in years. For infractions big and small, for wounds inflicted not on purpose and those created by forces beyond my control. Apologies are all that i can offer, a quick fix salve on scabbed over wounds that we hope will limit any subsequent, permanent scarring. It's the 'thank yous' that get stuck in my throat.
Words from a place so deep in my heart, they struggle to be set free. From a place in my soul, they feel inadequate in their spoken form. Thank you. Those two little syllables are too simplistic to ever bear the full breadth of their intent. I know i've told you enough 'i'm sorrys' already. But how, exactly, could i ever appreciate you for just being who you are, for the way you touch my heart over and over again?
I'll think of something. In the meantime, will a bar of dark chocolate suffice? ;)
