your presence

What kind of empathy can you show to a person whose situation you've never experienced?

I don't use the words "i know how you feel", 'cos i can't and don't want to. But maybe, i can try to understand where someone's coming from. That's the best i can do. That's the best you can do. Not to give your opinions or some form of knee-jerk advice or your pity, your tragic sympathy - but just a ear that listens, a heart that feels silently. You may not fully comprehend, but it's okay. There's a place for the truth, and there's a place for quiet understanding.

Be my silent rudder when the storm comes, to steer this troubled ship slowly through the course it's supposed to take.

Because your presence is good enough.
