land of maple leaves

I'm surprised that i didn't catch a major cold, walking around for hours the past 2 days in the chilly weather. I must be stronger than i think!

The first day was nightmarish because of the jet lag. I stayed indoors, spent the evening watching Underworld on tv with japanese take-out. I felt 10 times better yesterday so we drove up to Burnaby, another city east of Vancouver. Shopped around in Metropolis; prize buy: a nice black wolly jacket that was only CAD$23. Went to a mountain where one was at eye-level with layers and layers of clouds and blue sky. But my teeth were chattering as we walked about so we had to retreat. Lunch was chinese food in a little Hongkong restaurant tucked away in an alley. That's right, i travelled thousands of miles to eat wanton mee that cost CAD$6.

We drove back to downtown Vancouver after that, where J wanted to show me a shadier side of the city, a street where the homeless and beggers roam. Most of them looked able and fit though. We went to Gastown and like a predictable tourist, i took pictures of the famous Gastown Steam Clock. My life is now complete. With my teeth still chattering, we went back to J's place and spent the night waching an ice-hockey game like a good Canadian. Go Canucks go!

(More photos next time because it's 6am in the morning now.)
