a potpourri of sense and feminine lunacy

It has been drizzling the past 2 days.
It was too cold to stroll along Stanley Park as planned yesterday, so we drove up to North Vancouver to see a salmon farm under our umbrellas. The fishes weren't in season so we didn't see any salmons jumping in the water as they would.

We went to Prospect Point after that, a hilly part of Stanley Park, where it was so cold that we blew wafts of grey mist as we talked, where one can see the outline of snow-covered mountains through the rain.

A quintessential western lunch included grilled fish and mushroom sauce steak with fried potatoes and vegetable rice pilaf at Denny's. To note: customer service here, no matter where we eat, is 10,000 times better than Singapore.
J brought us to Granville Islands after that, a small district with a public market, little museums, touristy shops, theatres and even a mall especially for kids. We walked around, absorbing the sights and sounds and smell of pigeons' poo poo. Dinner was at a Malaysian restaurant - 'the only one in Vancouver', a motherly chubby Malay woman who owns the restaurant with her husband, told us proudly, beaming all over her face. She was from Singapore too; she gave up being a nurse in NUH and travelled across the pacific ocean with her husband 17 years ago. She was incredibly warm and radiant.

Mee goreng mamak and beef rendang never tasted so good.
