What kind of empathy can you show to a person whose situation you've never experienced?

I try not to use the words "i know how you feel" cos i can't and don't want to. But maybe, i can understand where someone's coming from. That's the best i can do. That's the best you can do. Not to give your opinions or knee-jerk advice or share your pity, but just a ear that listens, a heart that prays silently. You may not fully comprehend, but it's really okay. There's a place for the truth, and there's a place for silence.

Be my silent rudder when the storm comes, to steer this troubled ship slowly through the course it's supposed to take. A hug will be nice too.
