family time

A rainy Saturday afternoon. It's great to be indoors now. My Dad's in the kitchen, preparing for tonight's dinner. I watch him chop his onions and chilli, his wonderfully lined face bearing a look of concentration. I've seen that look before; he wears it when he reads his 联合晚报 every evening, when he watches lions chase hapless deers on Animal Planet, when he tries to decipher a SMS because he never received formal english education before.

My Dad, Mr Macho. He's the kind who will not hesitate to let his fist fly out at anyone who disturbs me. Not that we advocate violence in our household, but when you love someone so fiercely, it will cause you to act on impulse, to be consumed and let irrationality rule your behaviour. I feel safe and contented with my Dad around. I believe that's the highest compliment you can give to a man. He makes you feel protected and taken care of.

My world may not be an ideal world but ideal things still happen sometimes. And my life may not be perfect but i do know what a perfect moment feels like: a Saturday night dinner with my Dad and Mum (and Sonno). Yes i'm going to be 23 this year and i'm a homely lass!

Anyone wants to marry me? ;)
