sunshine
Spent a lovely afternoon hanging out in David's place with him and Anthony. Both of them make me smile with their boyish natures and sense of humour. I don't understand how guys can put up with clutter so i got up halfway and started cleaning out David's bedroom. I felt so much more at ease after doing so. :)
Conversation of the day:
Ant: I have a lot of whiteheads on my face.
Dav: What's whiteheads?
Ant: Blackheads that are white.

On my way home, i saw a sight in my neighbourhood that made me stop and stare.
A group of young Indian men playing cricket on a grass field.
If it doesn't sound unorthodox to you... I mean its not everyday that you see a cricket game, of all games, being played in a neighbourhood field in Jurong West. I've never understood the game, though J, him being the school captain back in college, tried to explain it to me once or twice before.
As i watched them from a distance away under the hot sun, i can't help but notice the fat beams of light that pour upon us from above. They're angled, in unison, and square, each beam huddling with its neighbor to present a unified front. They reconcile to be one shaft of light, and as i look up at it, i could feel it blinding me. it's so bright and dazzling, you wonder if thats what you'll see when you die. It's mathematical and perfect. Every beam of light behaves, like soldiers aligned and saluting, awaiting commands.
I saw this geography of light on my way to David's place at 3pm. It was an aerial view, with my feet planted, as i looked up.
But it made no sense to me then.
It was geography when you're hovering through clouds in an airplane. Everything is segmented, measured and cut - you're amazed you can't see the math, the precision of it, when you're talking on your mobile phone on a sunny day. Only in stepping back can you appreciate the majesty, the math in it all. It helps to be reminded how a powerful and loving God is always in charge even when our own faith is falling apart, our lives losing control and going wayward in direction. That's the beauty in the whole of us all. The whole of things, the truths we find when we observe and walk away.
To find truth, or God, or anything inspiring, you have to hover and you have to lean. You have to get an aerial view of your life while you hold on tight to your super powered magnifying glass. All this at the 41st Street of Jurong, watching a cricket game, seeing a little light.
