a potpourri of sense and feminine lunacy

I met up with Andrea on Saturday for some catching up over shopping at Marina Sq. It was her brother's enlistment date as well and i'm still having trouble visualizing good ol' Yuchen going to Tekong to do all the 'manly' stuffs: wearing No 4, running and singing lame NS songs, digging trenches, going for field camps and complaining with his platoon mates about eating lousy combat rations. I've known Yuchen since PRIMARY FOUR - memories of him and his holey white singlet, teasing him mercilessly about everything, playing Street Fighter together, and even making him collect a birthday present from a suitor i didn't want to meet. I've seen him grow from taking PSLE..to..Olevels..to Alevels and now whats next? IPPT. Their old house was 10 min away from mine and it was one of my favourite places to hang out. Chips, tv, computer games.

The years at secondary school were idyllic. We were like spiders, self-indulgently spinning a web out of our yarns, even as we are prey on a larger, more intricate one, something annoyingly intangible and incomprehensible. Years later, the webs we woven melted into the expectations of the society, the demands of our parents; and we reluctantly grew out of the simplicity of these childish pleasures.

Andrea and i went to Esplanade after dinner and we managed to catch one of the outdoor gigs by a local band called Trent. They are wonderful. I was smitten by the lead singer who was boyishly cute, confident but yet not arrogant. Plus he sang so well that i felt goosebumps over my face. (Or maybe i was just breaking out.) I thought i remembered the band performs at Wala Wala as well and i couldn't resist calling Wala up to see which days they were performing. But Wala had no news of them and i can't find any information about them online. Anyone knows who they are?

Anyway i caught Ice Age 2 with
Victoria and gang just now, i laughed so much at the show (and after the show) that my stomach feels funny now. Ice Age rocks! The little chipmunk and its obssession with one single acorn cracked me up. Go catch it, the lame-o-meter is at full blast but it is FUNNY! Oh i realised that it's extra fun when you watch comedies with SiowKow. The 3 types of people who watch comedies are:
  1. People who refuse to laugh throughout the show or think they are too smart or cool to laugh at the punchlines. They snort and remark sarcastically "very lame leh".
  2. People who laugh at the parts where they are predictably audience-favourites, and are careful not to laugh too loud at other parts that are not as funny.
  3. People who show their appreciation by guffawing at all the humourous parts, regardless of how high they rank on the funny scale. Their laughter can be heard easily in the silence and it makes people feel curiously at ease.

Go figure which catergory he belongs to. For that i forgive you brudder for composing the LAMB song. *grumbles grumbles*
