eggshell art

If there's one thing i dislike more than overgrown eyebrows, it is compelled shopping.

Daughter on Mum's mission. A couple of hundred dollars, spending an evening in Bugis looking for chinese new year clothes. Sounds like paradise huh, girls? Sumimasen but it's a royal pain in the neck to me. I can't shop under compulsion, under rigour; and i apply that same yardstick to most of the things in my life. Friendships, relationships, studies, ambitions.

I remember Jon asking me why i didn't consider working my way up to be an associate writer for some magazine after graduation. I did actually. I'll probably dabble in freelance journalism if God ever provides the opportunity in the future (or when i'm living on peanut butter sandwiches), but i can't write for a living really. Kudos to professional writers and authors. They've built their career upon their passion and that's enviable, but i'm not them. If i tried to do the same, i know i'll eventually resent the very thing that gives me joy. Many times when i pick up the pen, inspiration is like a hit and run affair for me - it hits me and then runs away for a time, only to sneak up on me again. To 'create' inspiration is like trying to capture lightning in a jar. It simply can't be done. And you try telling your editor that when deadlines beckon.

On a lighter note, when i came back and cleared away the neglected messy pile of books, overdue received Christmas presents and what not on my desk...i found some UNWANTED COHABITORS underneath them.

BUGS!!!

AND BUGS' EGGS!!!!!!

And they were EVERYWHERE. Okay, maybe not everywhere. But they were on my desk that's near my BED. I challenge anyone to remain calm in the same situation. And the reason of their very existence - a dozen empty egg shells in a tray.

Had steamboat with the campus christians at Sera's house in Dec last year and what did i ask them to do? I wanted to make eggshell art using um, eggshells, but i have to get rid of the yolky stuff inside the eggs. Andrew helped me poke two holes and i got everyone to blow out the insides of the egg into the bowl.

It looks like Sera and Vanessa are sprouting yellowish stuff from their noses. Hehe. While my awesome friends were busy huffing and smelling and TASTING raw egg, yours truly was hopping around taking photos and videos of them from various angles. You can tell i'm gunning for friend of the year, no? So weeks after the egg-blowing activity, bugs had multiplied and established a thriving metropolis on my desk. I let out one shrieeeeeeeek when i saw them crawling around with their offspring, grabbed some Magic Clean and atom bombed their command center. My rag was covered with DOZENS AND DOZENS OF DEAD BUGS. Okay, maybe not that many, but when it comes to creepy crawlies is there any difference between one and a few dozens? THEY ARE ALL GROSS.

Moral of the story: seal up the egg holes when you want to do eggshell art.
